Dean Stevens 


My philosophy: “With focus, determination and ambition, anyone can accomplish anything.”

My motto: “Your ship will not come in; you must jump into the ocean and swim as hard as you can to catch your ship.”

My education:

-I have a master’s degree in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL).

-I have a second master’s degree in Education Administration.

-My Bachelor’s degree is teaching high school education, with an emphasis in Social Sciences.

-I have taken numerous graduate classes and conducted extensive research in the area of special education, especially students with learning disabilities and autism, as well as behavioral disorders. 

-I also have a certification to teach English Language Learner students from the University of Phoenix.

-Nevada teaching endorsements (licenses): Secondary Education, Social Sciences; Special Education, K-12 Generalist Endorsement; Alternative/Adult Education (see license posted on the white board in my classroom).

My experience:

-6 years teaching alternative & adult education in West Wendover, NV

-5 years as director of education in the prison education program in Wells, NV; helping students earn their high school diplomas and HiSET certificates

-3 years as director of education in the Susanville, California prison, assisting students with earning their GED certificates, high school diplomas, and associates degrees at the Lassen College.

-2 years teaching elementary students special education

-3 years teaching middle school students special education

-2 years teaching in English in Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico

-1 year teaching high school special education
